Rules on how to cite sources in APA Style – Guide
APA style is the format used in most academic writings. Now APA 7th edition is used widely in academic writings and research papers. APA manual is available that gives you a complete guide to format your paper in accordance with APA 7th edition. If you don’t have that much time to go through the whole manual then you can have this blog helpful. I will be giving you a quick recap of the citation format that is exactly similar to the manual. Students seek out a 'write my essay' service when required.
If you are required to use APA format for your paper then you need to use 2 types of citations. These are in-text citations that are added within the text and references that are added at the end of the research work in the form of a list. When students are stuck in citation and referencing style they pay an essay writer and get their references, this is not affordable for all so I will suggest you use this guide. Let’s have a look at the details.
Reference list rules
Many citation styles have a reference list at the end, but we will be only discussing APA referencing. Follow these rules to complete a reference list.
The reference list always starts from a new page with the centralized heading “references”.
An alphabetical list will contain the name of the author, year in which the paper is published, the title of the topic, journal, volume number, page number, and publisher name.
If the names of two authors are the same then their date of publication will be used.
If the date of publication of both authors is the same, they will be arranged concerning the title of their work.
If one author has multiple works in the same year, then letters a, b, c, d will be given to each work. You can also take support from an essay writing service.
For citing a book, write author surname, year, italicized title with the first word capitalized, location of publisher, and publisher name.
In-text citation rules
In-text citations are added within the text where you quote something or rephrase someone's work. Have a look at the rules.
The surname of the author along with the date is mentioned.
For example, William James will be written as James (2019) or (James, 2019).
In a direct quote, add a page number like this.
For example (James, 2019, p.45).
In the parenthetical quote don’t mention age number.
For two authors, use “and” or symbol “&” when used at the end of the sentence or used at the start of a sentence.
For example: (James & Smith, 2019) or James and Smith (2019). If you are having trouble, consult a 'write my paper' service.
For more than three authors, write the name of the first author followed by et al.
For example James et al (2019) or (James et al., 2019).
If there is no author, using the title of the source from where you retrieved information or the name of the publisher can be another option in such cases.
For example (A guide to public health, 2016).
Letters are used with a year when the author has published 2 works in the same year, you will use a small letter with the year.
For example (James, 2019a) or (James, 2019b).
To cite an organization, you will use the name of the organization in full form for the first time and in the further citation, you will use the short form.
For example (World Health Organization, 2023), or (WHO, 2023).
Work on this guide and you can easily make your citations in APA format. If you want to consult someone's help, I will suggest you go for an online paper writing service because they have experts who know the citation rules. So if you are thinking about someone do consult them.
